Crystal Reed worked split shift hours in a bank. She got into construction so she could have more consistent hours when her kids started school. "[My construction leaders] allowed me the opportunity to learn how to do things because they said I was willing to learn," Crystal said.

Her willingness to learn helped Crystal grow from being a laborer to a foreman. Eventually, she became a superintendent for Milestone Construction's concrete division. She loved the freedom of working outdoors, and she appreciated that Milestone worked with employees who needed flexibility to deal with life events.

"There's great opportunities for people in the construction industry, but you've gotta put your mind to it. If you really want to do it, you can do it. There's room for growth, and there's room for you out here," Crystal said.
