Darcy Scrimshaw-Turpin

Front-end loader operator

"My journey in the dirt world began at the age of 18, where my job was to watch rocks on the crusher.

"It didn't take long before I found myself intrigued by the loader that was feeding our plant. Eager to learn, I seized every opportunity I could to gain some seat time. After just a few months, I evolved into a full-time operator - a role I've held for the past two and a half years.

"The dirt world has a special place in my heart for many reasons, but one of the main ones is the profound sense of accomplishment that comes at the end of a job. There's nothing quite like the feeling of scooping that last bucket and knowing that my work contributes to the construction and repair of community roads.

"As the seasons change, our work shifts to providing winter sand which helps ensure safer drives for everyone. Each task brings a comforting reminder that we're helping people safely reach their loved ones."
