Field engineer

Ever since I was three years old, I've wanted to be around excavators, loaders, graders, pavers, haul trucks, and, my favorite, skid steers. ⁣

Back then, I loved heavy equipment and would constantly beg my mom to drive slowly past construction sites along the highway and around town.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
During elementary school, I attended 'Truck Day' every year in a neighboring town. This event showcased various companies' and municipalities' machines and semis, which helped spark my drive to join the construction industry. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I went to a tech school for high school and studied carpentry for four years before pursuing Construction Management at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There, I began working as a field engineer, collaborating with survey crews, laborers, and operators while overseeing projects ranging from dormitory renovations to slurry wall construction in Cambridge.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I realized I loved what I did when I saw the results of my work and the projects I completed with my team. It's incredibly rewarding to see a freshly paved road and know that I set up the traffic plans, ordered the materials, verified the submittals, laid out the manholes, and scheduled crews. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It's humbling to say, 'I helped build this' when you know thousands of people drive over it, use it, or see it every day.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I first discovered BuildWitt on Instagram through Turner Mining Group. Keaton Turner talked about how Aaron Witt put in more hours and effort than anyone else his age, which inspired me to follow BuildWitt and explore ways to contribute to the industry. I love the brand and am eager to do anything I can to help bring in the next generation.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I'm not sure how to make the next generation feel as passionate about this amazing industry as I do, but I can say this: it's a hell of a lot more rewarding to build something yourself than to pay someone else to do it for you.
